Way back in July- (in the depths of the best British summer we've had in a long long time), I had the pleasure of joining the lovely Karli Harrison on Paula and James Engagement shoot. It was a very pleasant afternoon wandering through Avenham park, and in lovely company, so a massive thanks to Karli for letting me come along!

Sheen & Alex
Nothing has made me feel as old and terribly grown up as watching my little sister get ready on her wedding day. I was actually quite happy to hide behind my camera; smothering the odd wave of rapidly dawning terror and twinges of sadness, absorbed in capturing my family and friends emotions instead. Like all Smit family affairs this one was inevitably full of utter craziness and hysterics, but for once i was able to take a step back and bask in the beauty of it all.
It was such a beautiful day full of love and laughter and incredible food!
Congratulations once again to my Sister and my new Brother in law!

Sheeny & Alex's Engagement Shoot
From childhood on my sister and I have always been opposites; in fact we have rarely seen eye to eye on anything. I am a natural blonde (although admittedly more like orange these days) whilst she is brunette. I have always swayed towards all things that are of a blue tone, she always went vibrant pink. She is very much a Dog person, I loyally remain a crazy cat lady. It comes as no surprise then that in planning our weddings we behaved very differently. I was extremely bossy, highly volatile and lost my marbles on many an occasion. Sheeny was laid back, content and generally not too fussed about anything!
I offered to do them an engagement shoot, and In my mind I thought simple- choose a day, go to chosen location, shoot shoot shoot, edit edit edit-win win win! But of course I did not account for my sister being her usual self! The date changed many times, on the day we drove around aimlessly around for hours searching for a location and when we did finally settle on somewhere Sheeny spent half an hour trying to decide what outfit to change into! Despite all of this once we were all ready, we were able to chill out by the water at Brockholes nature reserve (whilst trying not to freeze in the bizzarely cold may wind) and I got some nice photos...and to my joy a big mug of coffee after!

Michael & Evie Part 2 (better late than never)
It is a well known fact in our household that a lack of sunshine & warmth induces a very lazy mood for Jess. It also increases my chocolate consumption by 300%. However spring is on the way, and after a good old dose of golden hour light, I have finally got round to uploading the rest of the photos from Mickey & Eves wedding back in November...and here they are.
